A Two-Day Course Designed to prepare for the inevitable crises that occur within schools
Schools are safe but are the people in them safe? This training explores the impact of events, specifically on students and school personnel, and how to best prepare for and respond to them. The primary focus of this training is directed at supporting students, preschool to 12th grade, and the faculty/staff who work in those buildings.
This training is designed to prepare school administrators and educators for the inevitable crises that occur within schools or affect those in schools. It addresses the three most common phases of a crisis: pre-crisis planning, acute crisis response, and post-crisis activities. Special attention is given to the most common pitfalls, particularly those that pose significant liability risks for school personnel during crisis response activities. Participants will be introduced to the CISM framework and specific intervention techniques that can be easily applied in a school setting. These techniques are research-based and widely recognized for their effectiveness. Through multiple group activities, participants will explore the elements of effective crisis management.
