Mastering Advanced Techniques for One-on-One Crisis Intervention
Most psychological crisis intervention occurs one-on-one rather than in groups. These interactions can happen face-to-face (in person or electronically), over the phone, via email, or through text messaging. The SAFER-R model of individual psychological crisis intervention was created as a straightforward protocol to guide these interactions.
This two-day course builds on the foundational Assisting Individuals in Crisis course. Using the SAFER-R framework, participants explore scenario-based variations of the model. Topics covered include advanced psychological triage, grief, suicide intervention, challenges in follow-up and referral, and self-care. Additionally, participants will evaluate pre-recorded video examples of crisis intervention using the SAFER-R model.
