Assisting Individuals & Group Crisis Intervention

This 3-day course combines ALL of the content of ICISF’s Assisting Individuals in Crisis & Group Crisis Intervention courses.

Crisis Intervention is NOT psychotherapy; rather, it is a specialized acute emergency mental health intervention which requires specialized training. As physical first aid is to surgery, crisis intervention is to psychotherapy. Thus, crisis intervention is sometimes called “emotional first aid”. Designed to present the core elements of a comprehensive, systematic and multi-component crisis intervention curriculum, this course will prepare participants to understand a wide range of crisis intervention services for both the individual and for groups. Fundamentals of Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) will be outlined and participants will leave with the knowledge and tools to provide several group crisis interventions, specifically demobilizations, defusings and the Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD). The need for appropriate follow-up services and referrals when necessary will also be discussed.

Each registrant is required to have audio and video access.

Only those logged in and actively participating throughout the entire presentation will receive a Certificate of Completion.

*Breaks are determined by the presenter.

Courses not filled to minimum capacity may be canceled.

Fees are listed in US Funds and cover registration, handout materials and electronic Certificate of Completion (sent via email). Additional taxes may be assessed when applicable and required by law. Cancellation, Rescheduling and Substitution

All requests must be submitted via email to [email protected]

Cancellation requests received:

• On or before August 7, 2024 at 11:59 PM will be issued a 75% refund to the original form of payment of registration fees paid.

• Between August 7, 2024 at 11:59 PM and August 14, 2024 will be issued a 75% Stress Care Doc credit valid for two years from date of issue.

• After August 14, 2024 or "no shows" are not eligible for refund or credit

Rescheduling requests received:

• On or before August 14, 2024 a participant may request to have their registration transferred to another Stress Care Doc presentation currently scheduled and with availability.

• Participant may reschedule a registration one time without penalty or fees. Additional rescheduling requests are subject to cancellation and/or substitution fees.

Substitution requests received:

• On or before August 14, 2024 are subject to a $25.00 substitution fee.

• Requests for substitution must include name and email address of original participant and substitute participant.

In the event the Stress Care Doc, LLC finds it necessary to cancel a program because of insufficient registration or other reasons beyond our control, notice will be given to all affected registrants via email as soon as possible and will offer a credit toward a future rescheduled training or a refund of registration fees paid will be given to registrants affected. If the Stress Care Doc cancels a course, the Stress Care Doc is not responsible for any expenses incurred by individual registrants.

In registering for a virtual program, each participant is and expected to:

• Have usage of functional technology with audio, video, camera and microphone as well as most recent version of Zoom technology.

• Have ability to be on camera and engage in all scheduled hours, including during any breakout sessions.

• Understand any personal sensitivity to being on camera and participating in a virtual training.

If a participant is unable to comply with any of the above Participant Engagement expectations, the Stress Care Doc reserves the right to withhold issuance of participants' Certificate of Completion.

27 Contact Hours: 2.7 General CEUs from University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) Dept. of Emergency Health Services Professional and Continuing Education (PACE)

*Based on a formula of 1 Continuing Education Unit for every 10 contact/classroom hours.

*It is the responsibility of the participant if his or her licensing board will accept these CEUs.

Certificates of Completion:

All Stress Care Doc training participants will be awarded general Continuing Education Units (CEUs) from UMBC on their Certificate of Completion. At the end of the Virtual Training you will receive a course evaluation via email, after completing the course evaluation you will receive a link to print your certificate. All participants are required to attend the entire training session with audio and video.

UMBC CEUs are awarded at a ratio of one Continuing Education Unit for every 10 Contact Hours (refer to course descriptions for Contact Hours & UMBC CEUs). ICISF Certificates of Completion are not proof of profession specific CE/Contact Hours. Many national, state and local licensing boards and professional organizations will grant Continuing Education credit for attendance at our courses (save this information and your Certificate of Completion).
