Every person on the earth, introvert, extrovert, and ambivert, needs to have daily quiet time more than just when you’re unconscious and asleep. Quiet time means that you turn off all electronics and find a place that does not distract you from thinking or even not thinking. Clearing your mind and just being wherever you are is the best quiet time of all.
- Rest Is Essential for Human Health – Every human on the planet, like most mammals, needs sleep, and we need a lot of it. Adult humans need 7 to 9 hours of sleep regularly to maintain good health and a clear mind. Quiet time can help encourage rest and sleep in ways that other stimulating activities cannot.
- You’ll Discover What’s Most Important – When you have time to do nothing and just think or rest, it becomes clear in your mind what’s important to you over other things. For example, if you need to clear your schedule to have quiet time, what can you really get rid of that doesn’t actually matter? What does matter?
- Your Mind Needs Time to Make Decisions – Making decisions off the cuff is never a good idea because you may allow emotions to guide you instead of facts. Instead, taking quiet time to consider your options or just not think while walking in the woods can help you make better choices.
- Quiet Time Reduces Stress – People who spend daily time being still and quiet tend to have less stress in their lives. The main reason is that they know how important it is to care for themselves and give themselves that time.
- Quiet Time is Healing – Finding a moment of quiet time can be very healing if you are overworked. If all you have time for is sitting at your desk, closing your eyes, and breathing in and out slowly for a moment, that time will enable healing.
- Quiet Time Improves Sleep – Getting more quiet time during the day before you go to bed also helps you get to sleep faster at night due to the winding down effect it can have. For example, meditating right after work instead of diving into chores will give you a separation in your mind from work and your home life that helps you get into your nighttime routine.
- You’ll Feel More Peace and Joy – Giving yourself the freedom to do nothing will give you more peace and joy than filling every moment with things to do. Sometimes you can be productive doing nothing but clearing your mind and focusing on joy.
Quiet time helps reset your brain so that your thoughts can be organized in a better way that enables you to react more effectively no matter what comes your way in life. In addition, quiet boosts creativity and makes everything more peaceful.
